Brian R. Wolf, MD, MS
Dr. Wolf is Professor and Vice-Chairman in the University Of Iowa Department Of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is the Kim and John Callaghan Chair of Sports Medicine, and serves as the Director of Sports Medicine at the University of Iowa. Dr. Wolf is very active in providing care for athletes and is the Head Team Physician for the University of Iowa football, basketball, baseball, soccer and swimming teams.
Dr. Wolf's research interests center on clinical outcome studies. Much of Dr. Wolf’s current research comes from multi-center collaborative research. He is a long time member of the NIH funded Multi-center Orthopaedic Outcomes Network (MOON) research group which has established prospective multi-center cohort studies to analyze predictors of outcomes following ACL reconstruction, shoulder stabilization and rotator cuff tear. Dr. Wolf has over 150 peer-reviewed publications in addition to over 20 book chapters. His research has been presented in over 100 scientific podium and 50 poster presentation. Dr. Wolf has given over 200 invited lectures nationally and internationally.
Academically, Dr. Wolf is a Fellow of the AAOS and a member of AOSSM and AANA. He serves on numerous committees for AAOS and AOSSM. His honors include being elected into the AOA, the Herodicus Society, the American Shoulder and Elbow Society and the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons. Dr. Wolf has been awarded the ASES Neer Award the AOSSM O’Donohue Award, and the AOSSM Herodicus Award twice each. He was a traveling fellow for the AOSSM exchange with Europe in 2010. He was selected for the esteemed AOA American British Canadian Traveling Fellowship in 2013. Dr. Wolf has been listed in U.S. News “Best Doctors in America” since 2007.
